ScoreQuest

Privacy Policy

No account, no analytics, no ads. The only thing ever sent is what you type into the optional cloud AI — after you say yes.

Last updated 2 September 2026. Applies to the ScoreQuest iPhone app and this website.

The short version

There is no account to create, no analytics and no advertising code in the app. Everything ScoreQuest needs to work — what you block, your study progress, your earned minutes — is stored on your iPhone and stays there.

There is one exception, and it is entirely your choice. On iPhones that cannot run Apple Intelligence (iPhone 14 and older), the AI features — the tutor, the explanation of a wrong answer, and full dictionary entries — can instead be answered by OpenAI through our own server. That is switched off until you read a consent screen and agree to it, and cloud requests are metered by monthly AI Credits — from an AI plan subscription or the allowance included with the one-time Pro purchase. When it is on, we send the text you typed together with Apple's signed purchase receipt proving this device's entitlement — and nothing else about you: no account, no name, no email, no device identifier. We could not link it to you if we wanted to, because the app has never asked who you are.

In Apple's App Store privacy terms, ScoreQuest's label is Data Not Linked to You, covering user content and purchase information. On an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, where the AI runs entirely on the device, nothing is sent at all.

What ScoreQuest stores on your iPhone

All of the following is local. It is not readable by us, and none of it is ever sent anywhere — including when the optional cloud AI features above are switched on, which send only the text you type (plus Apple's signed purchase receipt) and never this data.

Screen Time data

ScoreQuest uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity) for one purpose: applying the blocks you asked for.

When you choose apps to block, iOS presents its own picker and returns opaque tokens. ScoreQuest never sees app names, bundle identifiers, or a list of what is installed on your iPhone, and never tries to work them out. The tokens are meaningless outside your device.

ScoreQuest also does not request Apple's App and Website Usage permission and does not include a usage-report extension. It never sees a breakdown of how long you spend in any specific app, and it never learns app names through this channel.

There is one narrower exception, and it is opt-in: if you choose to earn minutes by spending time in apps you have marked as learning apps, iOS notifies ScoreQuest when your cumulative time in that self-chosen group crosses each 10-minute mark during the day. This is a threshold crossing, not an exact duration, and it is tied to the same anonymous tokens as everything else in this section — never an app name. It applies only to the apps you deliberately picked for learning. The apps you are blocking are never measured this way; blocking runs entirely on a schedule, never on how much you have used anything.

No information obtained through these frameworks is used for advertising, profiling, or shared with anyone — nor will it be. All of it stays on your device, exactly like everything else described on this page.

Health data

ScoreQuest can optionally read your step count from Apple Health, as one more way to earn minutes. This is a Pro feature: the app never asks for Health access unless you turn steps on as an earn source.

Access is read-only — ScoreQuest cannot write to Health, and never asks to. It reads your cumulative step count for the current day only, and it deliberately excludes any step entry you typed into the Health app by hand, counting only steps recorded automatically by a phone or watch. This exists to stop manually-entered numbers from earning minutes they were not actually walked for.

ScoreQuest does not store your raw step count or history. It checks Health at the moment it needs to, works out how many 1,000-step increments have already been credited, and keeps only that running tally locally — the same as every other wallet source on this page. Your step data is never transmitted anywhere, never included in analytics (there are none), and never shared with anyone. Deleting ScoreQuest does not delete anything from your Health app, because ScoreQuest never held a copy of it to begin with — it only ever read it in passing.

Purchases

Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. ScoreQuest never sees your card details, your name, or your Apple Account.

The optional AI plans are monthly subscriptions, and metering their cloud AI Credits takes one extra step: when you use cloud AI, the app sends Apple's signed purchase receipt to our server, which verifies it and keeps a credit ledger — how many credits this subscription has used this month — keyed to the anonymous transaction identifier inside that receipt. Apple also notifies our server when a subscription renews, is refunded or expires, so the allowance stays correct. That identifier is issued by Apple for this purchase alone; it is not your name, email, Apple Account or device identifier, and we have no way to turn it into one. If you never use cloud AI, our server never hears from your device at all.

Third parties

The app contains no third-party libraries, SDKs, trackers, crash reporters or advertising networks. One third party is involved only when you use cloud AI: the text you typed is processed by OpenAI on our behalf to generate the answer, under the consent described above. Nothing about you is ever sold, shared or brokered.

Children

ScoreQuest is designed for adults restricting their own device, and asks iOS for individual authorization rather than parental control over someone else's iPhone. It is not directed to children. Since the app collects nothing from anyone, it collects nothing from children either.

Deleting your data

Delete the app. That removes everything described above from your iPhone. There is no copy of it anywhere else, so there is nothing to request, export or erase on our side — and no way for us to do so even if you asked.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the previous wording stays visible in this page's history on GitHub. Should ScoreQuest ever begin collecting anything, it would be announced here and in the app before it happened — not added quietly. That promise has been kept once already: when the optional cloud AI fallback was added for iPhones without Apple Intelligence, this page was updated and an in-app consent screen was added, which you must read and accept before anything is ever sent.
