Mjudio — Music Studio Visualizer

Frequently Asked Questions

Turning an audio file into a music visualizer or lyric video on your Mac.

Getting started

What does Mjudio do?

You give it a song. It gives you a video — either a music visualizer, where graphics move in time with the audio, or a lyric video, where the words appear in sync with the track. You do not need any video editing experience.

What do I need to run it?

A Mac running macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. Mjudio is a native macOS app and uses your Mac's graphics hardware to render, so it works well on Apple silicon.

Which audio formats can I import?

MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, AIFF (and AIFC), CAF, FLAC, and audio from MP4 and M4B files.

Can I add my own lyrics?

Yes. Type them in, or import a timed lyric file in .lrc or .srt format. You can adjust the timing of each line inside the app.

Exporting

What resolutions can I export?

720p, 1080p and 4K (2160p), encoded with H.264 or HEVC.

How long does an export take?

It depends on the length of the track, the resolution and your Mac. Rendering runs on the GPU, and exports are queued and written in the background — you can line up several and carry on using the app while they run.

What happens if my Mac shuts down mid-export?

Exports are written in segments and checkpointed as they go, so an interrupted export can resume from the last completed segment rather than starting over.

Does the exported video look the same as the preview?

Yes. The preview and the exported file are produced by the same rendering code, so what you see while editing is what gets written to disk.

Free tier and upgrading

What do I get for free?

The full editor — every visualizer style, lyric syncing, layers, templates and timeline editing. The free tier applies these limits:

LimitFreePremium
Watermark on exported videoYesNo
Maximum export resolution720p4K
Exports per day3Unlimited
Saved projects5Unlimited

These are the current default values and may be adjusted in future versions. The app always shows the limits that apply to your installation.

What are the paid options?

A monthly subscription, a yearly subscription (offered with a free trial), or a one-time lifetime purchase that never renews. All three remove the watermark and the limits above.

How do I cancel a subscription?

In System Settings ▸ Apple Account ▸ Media & Purchases ▸ Subscriptions, or through the App Store. Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so cancellation happens on Apple's side rather than inside Mjudio. See the Terms for details.

I bought Mjudio before. How do I get it back?

Use Restore Purchases in the app. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you originally bought it with — purchases are tied to that account and cannot be moved between accounts.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something went wrong with the app itself, please contact us first — we may be able to fix it.

Privacy and your files

Are my songs uploaded anywhere?

No. Mjudio works entirely offline. Your audio, images, lyrics and exported videos stay on your Mac. This version of the app makes no network requests at all. See the Privacy Policy.

Do you collect analytics?

Not in the sense people usually mean. The app writes a small diagnostic log to a file in its own folder on your Mac, and that file is never transmitted anywhere. You can switch it off in Settings.

Why does Mjudio ask permission to open a file?

Mjudio is sandboxed, which means it can only read files you specifically hand to it. That is a security feature of macOS and the reason the app cannot browse your disk on its own.

Why does the app say my audio file is missing?

Because a file it was using was moved, renamed or deleted, or is on a drive that is not connected. Open the project and point it at the file again to relink it.
